Can You Make Money Working As A Home Distributor For Kleeneze And Betaware?

The answer to the question is ‘yes’ because it stands to reason that if you put out enough catalogues some people will place orders and you will make a small profit on your sales. The point to consider really is whether the financial reward is sufficient to make the effort. Before committing you need to know the reality behind the idea of ‘starting your own business’.

If you are planning on selling to a wider field than family and friends then you will need a car with a decent sized boot. Some items are bulky, you cannot carry buckets and

brooms around in plastic bags. You will also need somewhere to sort your orders when they arrive in large cardboard boxes and to store them until you can deliver them.

You are going to do a lot of walking, often on wet days. So you need to be fit and enjoy physical activity and plenty of fresh air. You will be dealing with people, some of whom will be pleased with their purchase and some may not. So a pleasant sociable disposition is also a must if you want to build up regular loyal customers.

You may need to buy catalogues. So check this out carefully because you may start with 300 catalogues and lose half of them first time round because people do not always return them. Initially you will lose a lot of catalogues, in fact each time you go to a new area you will lose catalogues. If you keep a record you will soon realise which letter boxes to avoid second time around but it is a case of trial and error.

Obviously you cannot return to the same area more than once a month, so if you are intending to make more than pocket money out of this venture, then you will need to cover at least four areas. You need areas that are not far from where you live or you will be spending your profits on petrol. Remember that you will need to visit several times, once to deliver the catalogues, again to pick them up, a third time to take the goods and maybe a fourth or even fifth visit if people are not at home when you call

with their order.

Perhaps the most important piece of information you should try to ascertain is how many other distributors are around. You may not get this information from the person who will be your Co-ordinator, so ask your local friends whether they get catalogues delivered regularly .

Your Co-ordinator will also be distributing catalogues and he is the one who will tell you which territory is yours. Whether you get a fair deal or not is in his hands. If he is the one who delivers catalogues to you then he probably has established customers in your area, so he will give you an area further afield. Check which areas are free before getting involved. If you decide to choose for yourself and work locally anyway then you will be unlikely to make inroads into his area. People are loyal to long term distributors who have proved reliable and friendly and you will get very few orders and rather a lot of people telling you that they use someone else.

Many customers choose to pay with cash. That means that you will be carrying quite a lot of money around when you deliver the goods. Another reason why you need a car. Although you may prefer to do this during the day it is not always possible as people work. So some evening deliveries are necessary, in the winter this means doing it in the dark.

If, having considered the above, you decide to go ahead then now is the best time to get started. Christmas orders are the biggest ones you get all the year. The catalogues are at their most inviting for the month of December with lots of Christmas novelties and gifts. Having them delivered to the doorstep is very tempting for people who are too busy to visit the shops.

This advice comes from personal experience, I learned the hard way, so I hope it helps you to make a considered decision. If you decide to go ahead I wish you every success. Let me know you get on.
