Reconciliation - The Real Meaning Of Easter

There is much more to Easter than buying Easter eggs for the kids, or celebrating the end of winter and beginning of Spring. The name dates back to pagan times and is the name of a pagan goddess, but the Christian Festival has only the date in common with the old religion. Christians use that date to remember the death of Jesus of Nazareth by crucifixion as a perfect sacrifice for the sin of the world. His resurrection on Sunday bringing hope of life after death for those who believe in Him and worship him as Lord. Although

many people dismiss this, for those who witnessed his death and then saw him alive again afterwards it was a life changing event. Many of them paid the price with their lives.

RECONCILIATION

All Heaven must have wondered why

/> He loved the human race -
His tortured body wracked with pain,
The suffering on His face.
He bore the condemnation that
Was due to you and me
The day his dying body hung
So heavy on the tree.

There was no answer given to
Our Saviour’s anguished cry -
No shortcut on His given path
To suffer and to die.
And who could have imagined, as
They gazed upon the Son,
That in His broken body God’s
Redemption work was done?

God was reconciling the world to Himself in Christ 2 Cor.5.16
